3 Minute Chocolate Cake
The 3 minute chocolate cake has been a favourite in our house for a long time. Forever, really. The Lady Of The House acquired the recipe from her mother, who in turn got it from hers, and so on.
This needs no machines – no mixers, beaters, nothing clever. Just a bowl and spoon. And a bit of arm-power. The 3 minutes part refers to how long it takes to beat it, but making it is only about another 3 minutes.
You will need:
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup self raising flour
- 2 level tablespoons cocoa
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla essence
Method
- Melt the butter.
- Combine all the other ingredients.
- Pour on the butter.
- Beat well, with a spoon or fork, for 3 minutes.
- Pour the mix into a lined loaf tin, and cook in a moderate oven for about 20 minutes.
My favourite time to eat this is just after it has come out of the oven, when there is still a crunch to the crust. It’s like chocolate bread.
If you leave it longer so it has completely cooled, that crunch disappears, and then its more like a traditional cake. A few cracks and craters on the top are normal, nothing to worry about. If you feel really keen they can disappear under a chocolate icing!
i want to try this… what does cook in a moderate oven mean in regards to celcius or farenheit?
Aaah, the beauty of simple things in life. I’ve been making a similar one for ages now and it’s everyone’s favourite, though I must say I would prefer to devour the whole cake myself 😉
A moderate oven means 180 C. About 360 F.
I am going to serprise my mom and dad.
UUUUU…I love chocolate cake. My mouth is watering now.
Mhmmmm…it smells delicious! 🙂 5 more minutes and it will be ready! It’s cooking right now! 😉
I have the cake in the oven right now. 🙂 While I have not tasted the final product yet, judging the batter it is going to be delicious! So soft, so moist, so sweet, and so completely mouth-watering. A very easy recipe too – this was a spur-of-the-moment cake made in no time at all! 10/10! 😀
..love it
